Gentle Support After Pet Loss – self paced video series

$44.00

When your pet dies, you’re left trying to work out how to live in a world they’re suddenly not in.

You might understand that you’re grieving.

But understanding that doesn’t necessarily help at 2am when you can’t sleep.

It doesn’t stop you replaying what happened.

It doesn’t tell you what to do when you’re barely eating, completely exhausted, or struggling to concentrate on basic things.

It doesn’t prepare you for the first birthday without them. The anniversary of their passing. Walking past their favourite spot. Finding one of their toys somewhere you weren’t expecting it.

And it definitely doesn’t prepare you for how many different emotions can exist alongside missing them.

Sadness.

Guilt.

Anger.

Numbness.

Fear.

Even moments of happiness that can suddenly feel wrong because they’re not here to share them with you.

Pet grief can affect far more than how you feel emotionally.

It can affect your body, your routines, your relationships, your sense of safety, your beliefs and even your understanding of who you are now that the pet who was woven through your everyday life is gone.

That’s what Gentle Support After Pet Loss was created to help you navigate.

To help you understand what is happening to you and giving you practical ways to support yourself while you’re living through it.

Because nobody really teaches us how to do this

Most of us are completely unprepared for what happens after a pet dies.

You’re grieving, but you still have to eat.

Sleep.

Work.

Answer messages.

Look after yourself.

Possibly look after other animals who may be grieving too.

You have to somehow keep living your normal life when absolutely nothing about life feels normal.

And there are questions nobody really prepares you for.

What do I do when the grief becomes overwhelming?

How do I calm my body when I can’t switch off?

How am I supposed to look after myself when I don’t care about eating or doing anything?

What do I do with all this anger, guilt or sadness?

How do I keep remembering them without completely falling apart?

What am I going to do on their birthday or the anniversary of their death?

What if my beliefs about death have changed because of this?

Where do I find people who actually understand why losing my pet has affected me this much?

How do I know if I need more support than I’m able to give myself?

And if another pet is still at home:

How do I help them when I’m grieving too?

Those are the kinds of things we talk about inside this video series.

What you’ll find inside

1. Understanding Your Grief

We start with what pet grief actually looks like.

Why it can feel so consuming. Why your emotions can change from one hour to the next. Why you may not feel like yourself.

Sometimes simply understanding what grief is doing can take away some of the fear that something is wrong with you.

2. Mindfulness in Moments of Heavy Emotions

For the moments when your thoughts are racing, your emotions are taking over or you feel completely overwhelmed.

You’ll learn simple grounding and mindfulness practices you can use to bring yourself back into the present without trying to push your grief away.

3. Self-Care Strategies During Shock

Early grief can feel like survival mode.

This video focuses on caring for yourself when you’re shocked, numb, exhausted or struggling with things that normally wouldn’t take much effort.

Not elaborate self-care.

The basic things that can help you get through the day when getting through the day is enough.

4. Physical Wellness During Grief

Grief doesn’t just live in your thoughts.

Your sleep can change. Your appetite can disappear (or you may indulge in comfort eating). Your body can feel tense or completely drained.

We look at simple ways of supporting your physical wellbeing while your body is carrying the stress of loss.

5. Navigating Emotions With Care

There isn’t one correct emotion to have after your pet dies.

You might feel devastated one day and angry the next.

You might feel guilt, resentment, numbness, relief or emotions you don’t even know how to name.

This is about giving those emotions somewhere to go rather than judging yourself for having them.

6. Daily Rituals of Remembrance

Your relationship with your pet doesn’t suddenly become meaningless because they died.

We’ll explore simple ways you can continue remembering and honouring them in everyday life — without turning remembrance into something else you have to do “properly.”

7. Positive Actions in Memory

Sometimes we want somewhere for all that love to go.

This video explores meaningful things you might choose to do in your pet’s memory — whether that’s something private, something creative, helping another animal or simply carrying something they taught you into the way you live.

8. Coping With Anniversaries and Special Dates

Their birthday.

The anniversary of their death.

Christmas.

The day you adopted them.

Or a completely ordinary date that means something only to you.

These days can bring grief back with surprising force.

We’ll talk about ways to prepare for them and decide what you need rather than simply bracing yourself for the day to arrive.

9. Comfort Through Beliefs — Spiritual, Philosophical and Beyond

Loss can bring up some enormous questions.

Where did they go?

Does the relationship continue?

Will I see them again?

What do I actually believe about death now that someone I love has died?

This isn’t about telling you what to believe.

It’s about giving you space to explore the beliefs, experiences and ideas that bring you comfort.

10. Community and Shared Healing

Pet grief can be incredibly lonely when the people around you don’t understand the depth of the relationship you’ve lost.

We look at connection, finding people who understand, allowing yourself to receive support and why being witnessed in your grief can matter.

11. Recognising the Need for Professional Support

Sometimes self-support isn’t enough.

This video helps you recognise when you may need additional help and encourages you to seek the right kind of professional support without shame or judgement.

12. Final Reflections and Continuing Your Journey

There isn’t a point where I tell you that you’ve finished grieving.

Because that isn’t how this works.

Instead, we look at what you’ve learned, what you may want to carry with you and how you can continue supporting yourself as your relationship with grief changes over time.

Bonus: Self-Care and Caring for Your Grieving Pet

Because sometimes you’re not the only one in the house who has experienced a loss.

If you have another pet, you may be watching their behaviour change while you’re grieving yourself.

This bonus video looks at ways you can care for them while remembering that you need care too.

You don’t need to work through all of this in order

This matters.

If you’ve just lost your pet and you’re in shock, start there.

If their anniversary is next week, go straight to that video.

If you’re lying awake with your thoughts running in circles, use the mindfulness resources.

If you’re questioning everything you believe about death, go to the beliefs video.

If another pet in your home is struggling, watch the bonus.

Use this according to what you need, not according to what video comes next.

There’s no schedule.

There’s no deadline.

And there’s no falling behind.

You can watch, listen or read

Grief can absolutely destroy your concentration.

Sometimes watching a video is fine.

Sometimes even that feels like too much.

That’s why each video also includes an audio version and written transcript, along with supporting resources throughout the series.

You can watch when you want company.

Listen while you’re lying in bed or walking.

Read when you want to take things slowly.

And return to the downloadable resources whenever you need them.

You’ll also receive a Guided Meditation for Pet Grief and Pet Parent’s Guide to Guilt.

Why I created this

I lost my cat Charlie suddenly in February 2024.

And I learned very quickly that knowing you’re grieving and knowing how to live through grief are two very different things.

I didn’t need somebody telling me that grief takes time.

I needed help with what was happening today.

The shock.

The physical impact.

The thoughts I couldn’t switch off.

The guilt and questions.

The absence of him in my home.

And eventually, figuring out how I could keep loving and remembering him without believing that staying connected to him meant I had to stay in the worst of the pain.

That experience sits underneath this entire series.

I created the kind of support I believe grieving pet parents actually need: something you can reach for when you’re hurting, without being treated like your grief is a problem that needs to be solved.

What I hope is different after you have this

Not that you stop missing your pet (that will never happen!).

Not that you never cry again.

And definitely not that you’ve “moved on.”

I want you to understand your grief better.

To have something you can do when your emotions become overwhelming.

To know how to support your body when grief is physically exhausting you.

To have somewhere to take the guilt, anger and other difficult emotions when they show up.

To be able to approach anniversaries with more intention instead of dreading them alone.

To find ways of remembering your pet that actually feel meaningful to you.

To know when you need more support.

And perhaps most importantly, to stop feeling like you’re supposed to somehow know how to navigate something nobody ever taught you how to navigate.
